The New DeWitt Academia Night Chronographe

Freedom has been the guiding light of DeWitt’s progress and creativity since its foundation in 2003. As much an aesthete as a designer, free of the constraints imposed by tradition or by any professional past as a watchmaker, Jerome de Witt set up business in Vandoeuvres in order to breathe a sense of newness into the conservative world of timepieces.

At this year’s Baselworld, DeWitt debut the playful yet functional Academia Night Chronographe that interprets the measurement of short times in a diurnal/nocturnal mode. The Night Chronographe stands out from existing chronographs with its powerful signature Imperial Column motif and its sequential seconds counter. The watch dials are coated with white Superluminova and most surprisingly, dark, nearly black superluminova. The black dial background is accented with black luminescent matter printed on the minute track and the minutes/seconds counters

Within the 43mm Academia case, the Night Chronographe beats to a self-winding mechanical movement with power reserve of approximately 48 hours and water resistance to 50 meters. Available in a case made entirely of 18kt rose gold or in a case crafted from alternating white and rose gold combining rubber inserts, the Academia Night Chronographes are extremely limited in production.

The Rising Star Award: DIMIER Recital by BOVET 1822

A star is born! In fine luxury watchmaking, history is often written on the long and sinuous path which leads from doubt to certainty. Established in 1738 based in the historical Fleurier of Switzerland, the DIMIER brothers were visionaries who shared the ideal quest for outstanding workmanship, watchmaking as an art, and an expertise of artisans based on magnificence and precision. Such expertise was handed down from generation to generation in the shape of exceptional timepieces. Today, the passion and vision of Pascal Raffy, the rejuvenating catalyst behind the BOVET 1822 brand, presents a new way of telling time called DIMIER as a tribute to those illustrious creators.

While the DIMIER workshop currently manufacturers and services tourbillon movements for leading industry names such as Harry Winston, Gerald Genta, Alain Silverstein, not to mention another 14 notable brands, Pascal Raffy has deftly developed the first DIMIER collection for an exclusive experience reserved for a select few connoisseurs who appreciate the careful attention to detail which has prevailed at every stage in the creation of this new achievement of fine luxury watchmaking.

The first opus consists of a timepiece fashioned in red gold, white gold or platinum with a Tourbillon at its heart which sets the senses spinning. Classical in the way in which they rest on the wrist, yet modern and sleek with a 46mm case, the horns reveal carefully fashioned profiles. These fine timepieces are ornamented with unique engravings like so many easels supporting works of art that are an offering to time. The emotion of DIMIER is special and no less rare because each composition created in this way will be available in an annual limited edition of 50 numbered timepieces in each of the precious metal versions. The DIMIER by BOVET 1822 marks the birth of a true shinning star that will capture the passion of watch collectors around the world and secure a place in horological history.

King Jewelers Partners with Wyler Genève

King Jewelers of Aventura, FL and Nashville, TN announces exclusive partnership with Wyler Genève, a Swiss watch manufacturer that has been changing the face of the timepiece industry with innovative practices and ingenious design for over 100 years.

The decision to partner with Wyler Genève was natural for the King Jewelers’ family based on the similarity of ideals and practices governing both companies.

“At Kings, our constant goal is to be miles ahead of our industry in every department. Whether it is service, beauty and design, innovation, environmental awareness or civic duty, we take our position in the luxury world as leaders quite seriously,” says David King, Director of Business Development.

Wyler Genève boasts one of the most exclusive watch lines in the world, with only seven retailers, including King Jewelers, located in the US. Since the launch of their new Tourbillion
and Chronograph watches
at Baselworld 2007 in Switzerland, demand for these coveted pieces has grown at an unprecedented rate.

On principle, Wyler Genève prefers to be judged on its products and its actions, rather than artificial publicity. From the start, Wyler Genève exploded onto the scene with the development of their patented Incaflex balance wheel, which has now become an industry standard. The founder of the Wyler Watch Company, and a pioneer of anti-shock technologies, then proved the effectiveness of his own invention by throwing his company’s watches off the Eiffel Tower in 1956.

More recently, Wyler Genève broke industry standards once again by becoming the first watch company in the world to be certified CarbonNeutral® by the CarbonNeutral® Company. The launch of the Wyler-Genève GMT also marked the debut of the world's first CarbonNeutral® watch.

Wyler Geneve watches are proudly worn by race car drivers and enthusiast from around the world because of the brand’s long-standing partnership with the automobile industry. Associations include the Paris-Beijing anniversary, an exclusive design partnership with Italy’s Atelier Zagato and a partnership with the St. Moritz Automobile Club. World-renowned DJ, Bob Sinclar an avid racing fan, was recently spotted wearing an 18-carat gold Wyler Genève chronograph on his 2008 worldwide summer tour.

The Wyler Genève chronograph, available in 18 karat red gold, titanium and steel, combines their original innovation and high-tech materials in a case with a design that is bold, daring and marked with Paul Wyler's philosophy.

The design goes hand-in-hand with the mechanics of a performance automobile, while offering a unique form of shock absorption that guarantees optimum reliability from the self-winding chronograph movement.

Enter to Win a Beluga Ebel Timepiece, the Quintessence of Femininity and Sculpture

Designed by the Architects of Time, one lucky participant will receive this exquisite contemporary, youthful, and streamlined Beluga timepiece.

Ebel’s updated Beluga timepiece is armed with an unmistakably sensual and distinctive design. The triple-row bracelet now features more expressive central links that enhance the visual fascination and accentuate the contrast with the horizontal elements on either side, while the caseband is beveled to create a tauter, more generous curve. Instead of applied round dots and numerals, square diamond hour-markers light up the dial to produce a striking effect.

In 2008, the Architects of Time clearly reaffirm their ongoing love story with women through the year’s major launch of the new Beluga line, and in sharing that sentiment King Jewelers is pleased to provide this fabulous offer.

The history of King Jewelers

Established in 1912, King Jewelers has proudly styled jewelry aficionados from around the world. For five generations, the King family has owned and operated King Jewelers while building an outstanding reputation steeped in quality, value, and first-class service. For five generations, King Jewelers has been designing and retailing jewelry and watches while establishing a reputation built on quality, value, trust, and service. As South Florida's oldest and most reputable jeweler, the King family has built-upon its 93-year legacy with the recent grand opening of the Aventura salon, the first complete jewelry and watch store of its kind. The King legacy began in 1898 when immigrant Louis King crossed the Atlantic and established his roots in the United States. Originally a watchmaker, he settled the family in Philadelphia, working days in a factory and repairing watches at night. Catching the "Gold Rush" fever in 1902, Louis headed west to Salt Lake City, where he opened King & Co, a pawnshop and trading post that stocked everything from gold and diamonds to mining supplies, guns and suitcases. Here, the King family provided the miners with supplies while purchasing the precious stones and metals mined locally. Having acquired a large gold inventory, Louis decided to specialize and focus on jewelry exclusively. In January 1912, he moved the family store to the heart of town, reopening as King's Jewelers. King Jewelers today

Recognizing the biggest market for fine gold jewelry was on the East Coast, in 1919, Louis King again pulled up stakes to return to Philadelphia, where he opened King's Jewelers on upscale Chestnut Street, now working side-by-side with his son, Abraham. King's Jewelers featured fine diamond and gold jewelry, watches and semi-precious stones. By 1926, the father and son duo were at the helm of a store well-known up and down the Atlantic seaboard. To meet demand, the two opened a second store in Atlantic City, the country's premier vacation destination during the booming 1920s. It was here that Abe King first made his mark, featuring spectacular jewelry showcases the likes of which the City had never before seen.
