Jaeger-LeCoultre Releases Master Memovox International Colette Edition

Jaeger-LeCoultre recently released the Master Memovox International Colette Edition. Colette is a Parisian concept store, stocking all things “hip, unique, and hard to find.” Released as a tribute to the historic 1958 model, the Memovox Worldtimer includes a unique feature: its central alarm disc also shows the world time zones. This exclusive series appeals particularly to avid collectors of the Jaeger-LeCoultre timepieces. It is a limited edition of 3 pieces.

It features a stainless steel case, a black dial with a date display and an alligator leather strap. The difference between this and the standard Master Memovox International is the light blue Colette notation on the dial and the blue stitching on the strap.

Jaeger-LeCoultre timepieces are available at King Jewelers in Nashville, TN and Aventura, FL. For more information, please visit www.jaeger-lecoultre.com and www.kings1912.com.

Breitling Navitimer Caliber 01 Limited Edition to be released in November

The Breitling Navitimer Caliber 01 will be released in November 2010 and available in steel (2,000 pieces) and 18 carat red gold (200 pieces) with Breitling’s first in-house movement, the COSC-certified Caliber 01. It has a 43mm case and a transparent case back, showcasing the watch’s movement. The dial features red numbers for date display and a red hand chronograph second hand. Each timepiece is individually numbered on the middle case at 9 o’clock.

The Navitimer was first introduced in 1952 with its defining feature being a circular slide rule, making it popular with pilots and aviation enthusiasts. The “Cosmonaute” version was the first space-going wrist chronograph (accompanying Scott Carpenter on his flight aboard the Aurora 7 capsule in 1962). Breitling also claims that the Navitimer is the world’s oldest mechanical chronograph still in production.

Breitling timepieces are available at King Jewelers in Nashville, TN and Aventura, FL. For more information, please visit www.breitling.com and www.kings1912.com.

Bridal Styles from New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week always brings together the top designers of the fashion world and A-list celebrities, and this year was no exception. Earlier this month, both wedding gowns and white dresses from non-bridal designers were on display that could be indicative of what will appear during October’s bridal market.

Some of the designers included: Derek Lam, Victoria Beckham, Carmen Marc Valvo, BCBG Max Azria, Adam, Farah Angsa, Lela Rose, Jenny Packham, Behnaz Sarafpour, Jill Stuart, Monique L’huillier, and Carolina Herrera

As you plan your big day, you can look to these new collections for inspiration from the silhouettes, textures, patterns, and embellishments. Cocktail dresses and metallic fabrics were some of the trends seen throughout designer collections during New York Fashion Week. Another interesting concept from this year’s collection is the “Little White Dress,” a second dress for the bride to change into for the reception, typically short and sleek.

"The Boss" and Bell & Ross at TIFF

"The Boss" Bruce Springsteen recently appeared at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) sporting a Bell & Ross BR03-92 Military watch to debut his documentary "The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town." According to the festival's website, "The documentary explores the creative process of his pivotal 1978 album, where his focus shifts from youth to adulthood. Interviewed in the film, Springsteen often reaches for cinematic comparisons to describe his songs. That sparked the idea to invite him for a longer conversation about the interplay between music and film."

In addition to showing the film, Springsteen was interviewed by actor Edward Norton during the festival. The documentary will debut on HBO on October 7, and the box set will be released by Columbia Records on November 16.

The Bell & Ross BR03-9 Military watch features automatic movement, a 42mm diameter steel with black carbon powder case, white numbers, hands, and indexes covered with a photo-luminescent coating for night reading, an anti-reflection sapphire crystal, with a heavy-duty synthetic strap. It is water-resistant 100 meters.

Edible Pearls: Mikimoto-Inspired Wedding Cake

As you plan your wedding day, one of the most delectable details is the cake tasting. There is a wide variety of cake designs and flavors to choose from, and we were thrilled to come across a cake on “The Bride’s Guide” from Martha Stewart Weddings that was inspired by one of our favorite brands, Mikimoto.

Maggie LaBaugh, chef and owner of MagPie’s Cake in Washington, D.C., has created an exquisite black pearl cake that illustrates elegance, detail, and sophistication with its white fondant, black “pearls” and weathered “shell.”

"For hundreds of years, the Black South Sea pearl has been revered as one of nature's most exquisite and rare creations. When Kokichi Mikimoto opened his first pearl shop in 1899, the cultured treasures were put into reach at last,” says LaBaugh. “This cake, like the oyster itself, is a study in contrast: shimmering black spheres tumble from the rough, weathered shell perched on smooth white fondant. Take a bite! It's all sugar..."

If you’d rather wear your pearls instead of eat them, King Jewelers offers a wide selection of Mikimoto pearls, including earrings, necklaces, and rings featuring Black South Sea pearls. They also make great gifts for your bridal party!
