Hublot King Power Ayrton Senna and Senna Tourbillon

Hublot has introduced two new King Power watches - Hublot King Power Ayrton Senna and Hublot King Power Tourbillon Ayrton Senna. Both watches feature the yellow/bluegreen colors of the Brazilian nation and are made almost entirely from materials used in Formula 1, such as carbon fiber for the case (a first for Hublot), ceramic, and Nomex for the strap.

Hublot King Power Ayrton Senna
The Hublot King Power Ayrton Senna is available in a limited edition of 500 numbered pieces.
It features a 48mm carbon fiber case, a split second chronograph movement with power reserve indicator (F1-style blue, green and red dots), and is stamped with Ayrton Senna’s signature.

For the São Paulo Grand Prix weekend, Viviane Senna (Ayrton’s sister) and the Instituto Ayrton Senna hosted a special event on November 3, 2010, which provided the backdrop for Hublot’s unveiling of the King Power Ayrton Senna and the premiere of the documentary-film “Senna.”

The timepiece has split seconds timing, marked with a button on the left side of case. To measure a split time, the first “split second” hand is stopped, while the second continues to run. This mechanism allows time to be taken to check this first period, before the push-button is activated again, allowing the hand to catch up with the direct-drive hand. This function can be used to calculate the split times of a racer, or the times of two racers.

Hublot King Power Tourbillon Ayrton Senna
The Hublot King Power Tourbillon Ayrton Senna is available in 10 exceptional tourbillons manufactured entirely by Hublot. The 10 unique commemorative pieces come with a different engraving on the case-back of each watch, showing one of 10 highlights in the driver’s career, chosen by his sister and mother, as well as a Brazil yellow strap with green and blue stitching.

Both new Hublot King Power timepieces will be available at King Jewelers in early 2011 at the Nashville store’s Hublot shop-in-shop boutique. For more information, please visit http://www.hublot.com and http://www.kings1912.com.

Hublot teams up with Manchester United for One Million Dollar “Goal for United for UNICEF Challenge”

At 4p.m. ET today, July 22, luxury watchmaker Hublot will team up with legendary soccer club Manchester United for a special event that will revive World Cup fever for a charitable cause.

The outdoor event will be open to the public and held in New York City between the iconic Flatiron and Empire State buildings on 23rd Street and Broadway. Professional players Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Nani, Darren Fletcher, Michael Owen, and the team manager Sir Alex Ferguson will attempt to hit a target concealed as a giant Hublot watch from 51 feet in the hopes of scoring a one million dollar goal for United for UNICEF. Regardless of the outcome, Hublot has promised to make a significant contribution, even if none of the players are able to hit the intended target.

“Our relationship with Manchester United is very special,” says Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver. “We love putting our creative hats on to organize unique experiences such as the Million Dollar Challenge to support United for UNICEF.”

In 2008, the relationship between Hublot and Manchester United began when Hublot designed the Manchester United Big Bang. Since then, they have worked together to raise awareness of the Manchester United Foundation, which aims to educate, motivate, and inspire young people to build a better life for themselves and their communities. Through the foundation, United for UNICEF was created, which has raised more than 2 million pounds in the past 10 years.

Hublot and WISeKey revolutionize the watch industry with its breakthrough technology against counterfeiting

At their MiniBasel hosted in Miami Beach this month, Hublot unveiled its new WISeKey technology that demonstrates an unique breakthrough solution that will help reduce counterfeiting among the luxury watch industry. This solution arrives during a period on which the watch industry is also impacted by the crisis and needs to reassure its clients.

All Hublot watches (new and old) will be protected by WISeAuthentic®, a certification system of authenticity through a smartcard. By leveraging this technology, online shopping and auction Websites have the ability to provide its users a safe, secure transaction, avoiding counterfeited goods in its product range.

"Counterfeiting represents approximately five to seven percent of all world trade," said Carlos Moreira, CEO of WISeKey. "Therefore, with the luxury brand industries estimated to reach one trillion dollars (US) by 2010, these companies need a solution that will prove authenticity. We are pleased that WISeKey technology can be used in the fight against counterfeiting."

"In the watch industry we are seeing a significant increase in counterfeit goods," said Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of Hublot. "It was imperative for us as a company to find a way to not only protect our watches but also those who were purchasing them. WISeKey has a strong track record in security and authentication and when looking for a partner to help us in the fight against counterfeiting we knew WISeKey was the right choice for us. We expect that this technology will become the standard on this industry"

Currently, Hublot is the first watch making company to reach this level of protection for its products by associating digital anti-counterfeiting technology with traditional watch making. This combination provides a fail-safe solution, impossible to replicate at a cost that is a small fraction of the amount lost in sales due to counterfeits.

"Every year, more than 40 million Swiss counterfeit watches enter the market compared to 26 million genuine watches," said Jean-Daniel Pasche, President, Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry. "This is a significant number that costs the Swiss watch industry, on a global basis, approximately 700 million to 800 million dollars (US). We are pleased to see companies are taking this issue seriously and creating solutions that will get us closer to stop counterfeiting."

WISeAuthentic is also available for use with jewelry, beauty products, haute couture as well as exotic items including jet aircraft engines or high-tech automobile parts. For more information on this solution please visit http://www.wisekey.com/

King Jewelers is an authorized Hublot dealer for Nashville and the Central South with an official Hublot WISeKey available. All watches sold in the past will be eligible to register with a new WISeKey at King Jeweler’s Nashville. For more information, visit http://www.kings1912.com/ or http://www.hublot.com/.
