King Jewelers of Nashville, TN named exclusive Alpina Geneve authorized watch dealer in Central South

Alpina’s first series of Regulator wristwatches, presented in 2005, are a reminder of the brand’s heritage and fascinating history – albeit with a design that is resolutely fresh and contemporary.

In 2008, Alpina is renewing its watch making tradition, which has been the cornerstone of the brand revival’s success amongst watch enthusiasts and trade professionals alike, and launches a brand-new manufacture calibre, the AL-950, in a new collection: the Alpina Manufacture Regulator.

Inspired by the past, yet built with today’s design and technical know-how. A stunning and well-balanced timepiece, arguably more "sober" than its big brother, the best-selling Alpina Avalanche Extreme Regulator, which is behind the brand's successful comeback to the forefront of the watch making scene. The "Extreme" has been resized - from a stately 48mm to a more respectable 46mm. But brand aficionados, rest assured: the iconic design elements of the “Extreme” remain – along with an even bolder and more elaborate dial design.

The movement is designed and developed entirely in the manufacture's workshops in Plan-les-Ouates, Genève, and features an automatic winding mechanism incorporating Alpina’s trademark rotor – a salute to the designers (Straub & Co.) of Alpina's first automatic calibre of 1945, the 582. As with all Alpina's mechanical timepieces, the finely decorated movement is visible through a transparent case back.

Teamwork…

After two years of Research and Development, the expert watchmakers at Alpina were ready to present a brand new Alpina Manufacture Movement with automatic winding and date. The dedication and hard work of the entire Alpina team is thus rewarded, and an ambitious dream has come true. A team of specialists (designers, engineers and watchmakers) worked on this project passionately for over two years. With the help of high-precision avant-garde machines, some of which have even been improved to suit the needs of the company, each and every team member worked hand in hand to revive Alpina as a Manufacture.

Yet the idea of a new manufacture calibre for Alpina is not new:
when the two co-founders of Frédérique Constant, Aletta and Peter Stas, took over the famous Swiss watch brand Alpina in 2002, their goal was to manufacture tough yet elegant, top-quality sports watches. The success of the Avalanche Extreme Regulator confirms their feeling that a watch must be beautiful, comfortable – and of impeccable quality. After considerable investments in technical know-how and, most importantly, a highly motivated and expert team of professionals, their ambition of manufacturing a bespoke in-house calibre has been accomplished.

King Jewelers introduces the Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters to the South Florida and Nashville

After having climbed the highest summits, Alpina is now plunging to the depths of the ocean and exclusively releasing its brand new Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters.

The Alpina Extreme Regulator, Alpina Extreme Automatic and, more recently, the Alpina Manufacture Regulator were collections designed to explore the summits. The Alpina brand is now branching out into the world of diving watches.

With its angular and sophisticated design, the newly-released Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters takes over where its big sisters left off. What's more, it is decked out with a unidirectional rotating bezel displaying the time in minutes. The bezel measures elapsed time in minutes for the first fifteen minutes and then in ten minute segments after that. The luminous triangle marker highlights the 12 o'clock position.

The black watch dial displays the date within a half-moon shaped display positioned at 3 o'clock. The day of the week is also displayed within the brand's famous red triangle. Alpina has kept this red triangle as a form of decoration in the centre of the watch face.

In the classic extreme design, measuring 48 mm, the Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters stands out at the bottom of the sea. Even in the darkness of the ocean-depths, the time will be clearly visible thanks to the watch hands, Arabic numerals and luminous index markers.

The brand's latest release replaces mechanical dial movement with automatic winding AL-525, a feature already used in the Alpina Extreme Automatic. This watch has a 42-hour power reserve, a blue-stained face decorated with mother of pearl and can be viewed through a sapphire glass window.
The helium escape valve located on the edge at the 10 o'clock position is an essential feature of a diving watch. In fact, when diving tens of meters below sea level for long periods of time, helium atoms can build up in the case. These atoms could expand and damage the watch when ascending. This escape valve, which is used during the decompression stop, allows the Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters mechanism to remain intact.

The Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters is available in two versions; one is made of surgical grade stainless steel with a black dial and the other is "Full Black", i.e. has a PVD case and a black dial.

ALPINA GENEVE: OFFICIAL TIMEKEEPER OF THE 12 HOURS OF SEBRING 2009

Alpina Geneve is proud to be the Official Timekeeper of the 57th edition of the famous Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring, which will take place from March 18-21, 2009 on Sebring International Raceway in Florida, USA.

For this occasion, Swiss manufacturer of high quality sports watches Alpina, developed an exciting special limited edition: the Alpina Extreme ’12 Hours of Sebring Drivers Edition’.

The watch capitalizes on the strong brand philosophy of Alpina, combined with the important requirements of the drivers in the race: highest level of accuracy, extremely high readability, shock resistance, sturdiness and reliability.
The timepiece, with a case diameter of 48mm, is made out of black steel and rubber, has a mat black rubber coated dial – expressing the tarmac of the track – and features clear indexes with a bold red ‘12’, commemorating the twelve exhausting hours of the race. Inside a durable, fully hand made Swiss automatic movement keeps track of time and shows the date. The movement, with its black signature Alpina oscillating weight is visible through the exhibition case back. Both front and reverse sides are equipped with sapphire crystals.

To honor the 57th race, the watch will be presented in an exclusive limited and numbered edition of only 157 pieces worldwide, giving it a high collectors value, already before its introduction.

The partnership between Alpina and Sebring Raceway forms the perfect match between two important players in their respective fields.

More about Sebring

The 12 Hours of Sebring are America’s oldest and most prestigious sports car endurance race and are considered to be the most important race in the American Le Mans Series. Also, it is known as an excellent preparation for the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, as the track’s extremely bumpy surface, combined with south-central Florida’s perennial hot weather, forms a true test for the reliability of the equipment.

Sebring kicks-off the international sports car racing season and traditionally attracts North America’s finest field of sports car racing teams. Second only to the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans in France, Sebring attracts over 175,000 fans from around the world to the 3.7-mile circuit, which originated from a World War II B-17 training base.

All the legends have raced at Sebring … Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt, Dan Gurney, Stirling Moss, Juan Manuel Fangio, Phil Hill, Briggs Cunningham, Jacky Ickx, Lake Underwood and dozens of other international motor racing heroes, driving race cars built by the world’s great manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, Maserati, Aston Martin and Audi.

More about Alpina

With regards to the history of Swiss watch manufacturer Alpina, we look back to 1883, the founding year of the association of manufacturers and retailers of watches that evolved into ‘Alpina’. Its members called themselves affectionately the ‘Alpinists’ and they all shared the same target: the success of the Alpina brand. Alpina Watch International SA developed a new collection, perpetuating the Alpina heritage. The new Alpina collection of technical sports watches composes of a range of models, some equipped with complications; three families with different styles that attract various kinds of sportsmen.

In the past, Alpina was best known for its “Alpina 4” watches. The number “4” stood for four important quality criteria that were united in these watches: anti-magnetism, water-resistance, the incorporation of an Incabloc anti-shock system and a tough stainless steel case. The “Alpina 4” was also equipped with one of the sturdiest watch calibers of its generation, the Alpina 582 Calibre, which continued to be used well into the 1950’s and 60’s.

Today, Alpina is an independent family owned watch manufacturer based in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva. Founded in 1883, Alpina celebrates its 125th Anniversary in 2008 and is evolving into a cool Sports & Lifestyle brand with its new, contemporary collections. The company is involved in all stages of watch production, from initial design to final assembly and quality control. Production will reach 10’000 timepieces in 2008.

King Jewelers Takes a Personal Approach with its Loyal Clientele

-->
King Jewelers, South Florida’s oldest and most reputable jewelers, showed appreciation for their loyal clients and special guests by hosting a private event together with Harry Winston at Aventura’s Porta Vita’s Ville Grande Club. Though the King family often hosts fundraisers for large charities, this small event is a different, more intimate approach to reach the clientele that has helped the family build its business for 95 years.

“It’s not uncommon for clients to come in with pieces they bought from us five decades ago,” says Maxine King, Vice President of King Jewelers. “Our business is built on customer loyalty so relationship building is extremely important for us. This dinner was the perfect opportunity to show our clientele and other members of the community how much we appreciate them.”

The event began at 7:00 pm with a cocktail hour on the terrace before proceeding to dinner in the Grande Club. Guests were able to preview the latest Harry Winston timepieces while enjoying a delectable three-course meal consisting of a lobster and avocado appetizer, an arugula and spinach salad, and a choice of either filet mignon, Chilean sea bass, or pork chops as an entrée. For more information on King Jewelers’ other events, please visit http://www.kings1912.com .
